Ok, so this is how SavingStar works. You first sign up and/or log in to your SavingStar account. Then you have to add your store loyalty card, for example CVS, BJ’s, Winn Dixie, or Kmart. Once you completed this step you can actually use SavingStar by digitally “loading” coupons into your account. Then go shopping at any of the stores that you have linked up OR that they work with (quite a few you have to manually scan the receipt, since they have no rewards card to do it automatically)! So for example, if they have 20% off the purchase of any single purchase of applies you would need to first load the 20% off apples SavingStar to your account by clicking “add”. Then you head to the store.
You then buy whatever bulk of apples you choose, making sure to scan your store rewards card that is now linked to SavingStar before you do so. Let’s assume that the apples ran you $6.98, in this case you would get 20% of that in cash back, or $1.40 deposited into your account . This process usually takes 1-3 business days (so be patient ). Once you have enough in you account you can cash them for items like cash, including PayPal or Amazon gift certificates. NOTE: if you are making your purchase from a store that is participating with SavingStar but does not have a rewards card, you simply keep the receipt and scan it into the website OR with SavingStar’s mobile app for iPhone or Android (optional). One of the really cool things about SavingStar is that you can DOUBLE DIP with regular grocery store coupons that you are already using at your local participating store – Meaning, if I already had a 20% off Apple coupon in the scenario above I would be able to use BOTH 20% off deals together. Now that’s pretty cool in our book!
So what about Freebie Friday? Each and every week, starting on Friday Saving Star sends out an invitation to get 100% cash back on one (1) specific item. One of the most delicious ones, on our book was when they offered up a totally free milk chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, 1.5 oz! When they notify you, you simply go in an tell it you “want” it and then you proceed to purchase it from one of the linked or participating stores. By the way, we like how they have over 100 local or national grocery stores on the list from Target to Winn Dixie, to Walmart, Giant, Albertsons and tons more.
We hope you have enjoyed our review, and perhaps you will take advantage of SavingStar and the next Freebie Friday item!
